Apple evolution continues. After the success from the previous fantastic idea of providing mini and energy efficient desktop, Apple releases their newest baby the Apple Mac mini MB463LL/A Desktop. The new Mac mini is definitely stronger, faster, more energy efficient, quitter, and also smaller than the previous baby.
It is horsed by the faster 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which also offers an ultra-fast 1066 MHz front-side bus (FSB) and a large 3 MB L2 cache. The new DDR3 RAM, which faster than the DDR2, is chosen to handle the memory. The 1 GB RAM included can be upgraded to a max of 4 GB, providing more opportunity to push the MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard to a new level. The newest MAC OS is the biggest upgrade ever from the MAC OS X, and comes with tons of helpful application software like Time Machine, to easily back up your data in a timely manner, and iLife ’09 (includes iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, GarageBand). Continuing Apple’s commitment to the environment, the Mac mini exceeds current Energy Star 4.0 requirements by consuming less than 13 watts when idle, 45 percent less power than the previous generation. Apple engineers also try their best to remove many of the toxins normally found on computer manufacturing process and use highly recyclable aluminum and polycarbonate to create its incredibly compact enclosure. The case itself is very small, only 2 inches tall, and 6.5 inches wide and depth, and weighs less than 3 pounds.
The new overall design also keeps the Mac mini MB463LL/A Desktop cool even when it is push to the limit, used all day long, and amazingly without any noticeable fan buzzing sound. It is quiet unlike any other desktop and it is cool enough that you can turn it on almost all the time. Apple also included many useful ports: 5 x USB, a new Firewire 800, DVI port, etc. Last but not least, it’s very cheap. Amazon has it for less than 600 bucks.
