Toshiba Satellite T115D-S1120 is the thinnest and lightweight laptop from Toshiba. As one of the newest laptop in 2010, the laptop offers a new size, 11.6-Inch. The new size is a little bit bigger than the average netbook providing more space for the full size keyboard and full size touchpad, which is highly important in comforting your finger, and yet still offers ultra portability due to its small size and light weight. Unfortunately, as other laptop of the same size, DVD is still not included, not enough space to accommodate the optical drive.

Performance

The Toshiba T115D-S1120 is horsed by the new single core 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 Processor and 2GB of DDR2 Memory, max of 4GB. Yes, this model does use a single core processor (Neo MV-40 is a single core), if you would like to get the dual core (Neo X2-1125) try its brother, Toshiba Satellite T115D-S1125 for only fifty dollars more.

With windows 7 installed as the operating system, the laptop can boot up or wake up in a glimpse of seconds. Feel the majestic combination of speed and power from this laptop. The spacious 250 GB of Hard Drive proves that this Netbook is small but huge. Small in physical but huge in capacity.

Display and Connection

As the name suggest, the T115D-S1120 uses an 11.6-Inch sized display. The screen uses the new LED backlight technology to save more energy yet deliver beautiful picture with a well balanced brightness and a wide viewing angle. The widescreen display also supports full HD mode with a max resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, good for watching movies. An Integrated ATI Radeon 3200 graphics with up to 1919 MB of dynamically shared memory is the brain to produce the brilliant picture.

For external connection, the notebook provides an HDMI output to let you connect to an HDTV for full 1080P high-definition video and sound. There is also a standard analog VGA video output for connection to older device. There are three USB ports with one Sleep and Charge port, allowing you to charge your mobile phone or other devices even when the notebook is asleep or off. For internet, a Fast Ethernet port is available and also WiFi connection supporting the b/g standard.

Toshiba L505-S5993 is one of the newest Toshiba laptop on the 15 Inch line. As other laptop on the Satellite model, this laptop offers good performance with a reasonable price. Toshiba also provides full support for their laptops by updating their drivers regularly.

Performance

Powered by the latest 2.1 GHz Intel Pentium T4300 dual-core processor, Toshiba L505-S5993 offers a magnificent multitasking environment. Working on several programs is no longer a problem. You can work on your spreadsheet or word document all while listening to your favorite mp3 and running a virus scan on the background. All of this can be processed easily by the powerful processor.

To accommodate the multitasking environment, the laptop is installed with 4 GB 800 MHz RAM which is upgradeable to a max of 8 GB. The RAM’s big capacity is needed to store multiple running programs and also to accommodate the advance video card. This Toshiba notebook uses an integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with up to 1750 MB of dynamically shared memory allocated by the system. The graphic card will deliver clearer, more detailed images and compatible with external monitor resolutions up to 1920 x 1200.

Connectivity

Another excellent point of the Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Netbook is the big touchpad. Many customers complaint about the too small touchpad on other netbook so that normally they prefer to turn it off and use a mouse instead. However, Toshiba’s engineers brilliantly put a big and usable touchpad on this mini notebook. They also managed to squeeze a full-size keyboard too. Damned genius!

Design as a desktop replacement, Toshiba Satellite A355-S6924 Laptop really stands out of the crowd. The machine is horsed by the powerful 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 processor and 4 GB RAM (max). With the 64-bit of Windows Vista as the Operating System, the 4 GB RAM is recognized and worked really well. The 64-bit pushes the limit of 3 GB RAM maximally accommodated by the 32-bit OS, into a new boundary. Its worth to try the fantastic experience offered by the 64-bit, since today’s hardware are designed to accommodate this system. The 64-bit when equipped with enormous RAM works absolutely fast, much more than the legacy 32-bit.

The body is framed nicely with a solid material. The shinning frame defines the luxury of this machine, with such a competitive price. However, the shining feature does have a drawback, it collects fingerprints. The keyboard is also glossy yet beautiful. The palm rest on the side of the touchpad is very wide and comfortable. The semi round edge of it, adds the comfort sensation and does not hurt your wrist when you type. There is also a white illuminated TOSHIBA band on the front-left edge along with a series of white illuminated indicators on the front-center edge, which are beautiful.

Intended as a multimedia device, Toshiba Satellite A355-S6924 Laptop comes with a 16-inch bright LCD display for true 16:9 aspect ratio and native 720p high-def resolution, great for watching movies. The screen is a glossy one and, as the native of glossy screen, you may find some reflections especially on bright environment but it is really not much. Glossy screen is a better choice for multimedia than a matte display as it provides crystal clear image on the screen.

This laptop is not as lightweight as the small netbook, as it is intended as a desktop replacement, and you wouldn’t want to travel with it due to its bulk size and considerable weight. However, it does more portable and more efficient in consuming energy and space compared to a desktop. Don’t forget that laptop also has a battery so you don’t need a UPS anymore, in case there is an electricity failure. I think it’s a good choice considering the competitive price.
